Adam’s story

Raised in a family that was sort of “organized-religion impaired,” I only attended services for weddings, bar mitzvahs, or funerals.  Although I did not totally understand religion, I always believed in a “higher being” and prayed often in bed, before going to sleep.

In college I played a brass instrument and–not having a church of my own—was one of the only players available on Easter Sunday.  I really enjoyed the services, singing the hymns, listening to the message. I became intrigued.

Church has given me a framework for my earlier beliefs. I have really enjoyed learning more about the Bible and getting a foundation of Christian education that I did not get as a child.  I love the music, especially the variety of styles and talents we have at Old First.  And I love the sense of Christian community. We have met some of our closest friends here and truly love our church family.
