Miguel’s story
I grew up a pastor’s kid and in a conservative church, and never felt safe to reveal my sexual orientation.
After sixteen years of marriage, I came out of the closet and was no longer welcome at my church.
Then one Sunday I visited Old First and heard the pastor say, “no matter where you are on life’s journey…you are welcome here; because just as Christ does not reject anyone neither do we.” The tears just flowed and I knew I was finally home!!
This is my family and I am so proud to be a gay Christian man who loves Jesus and who is loved by God and my church!!!
