Mindy’s Story
On my first Sunday at Old First I heard the Pastor say “L, G, B, T” twice. Was I actually hearing this in church? Then he said the words “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender.” And then he said “trangender” again.
I don’t really remember the sermon. But I do remember hearing “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey…YOU are welcome here.”
My husband and I had been wanting a church home since we arrived in Philadelphia three years ago. We live the “T” everyday: we are a family where one of us is transgender and the other identifies as “queer.” So where do we worship? Old First!
