Outreach Opportunities Don't Quit in the Summer

Dear Old First,

While we as a church are known for our outreach efforts throughout the city, those efforts couldn’t be done without volunteers. With summer quickly approaching, vacations nearing and holidays coming forth, we unfortunately tend to lose that great momentum that is so consistent throughout the rest of the year. With that said, if you or if you know of someone who is interested in some form of outreach, I would love your help.

When I speak of outreach, I’m not only asking for your help on Saturday mornings, whether that be as a volunteer, or as a breakfast head, preparing a meal for 80 of our shelter guests. Nor am I only referring to our Winter Shelter, where dinners are served to over 30 men, but I’m also speaking of help around Old First itself, including the office. For those with managerial and computer skills, we would love to have you come and help with sending and responding to emails, creating spreadsheets and mailing letters. For those with artistic skills we need help decorating bulletin boards, and even for those who are known for their organizational skills, we too need help straightening up our clothing shed.

Old First, we are a great church — we do so much for so many. I’m asking that during this season, you not forget that outreach does not stop. It keeps going. And in order to continue to do good for many, WE WILL NEED YOU. I look forward to working with you all,

All my best,
