A whole bunch of Old Firsters met in people’s homes two weeks ago. We began breaking the taboo and talking about race and racism. And asking our questions. And listening to others’ experiences.
If you could not join on of the housemeetings, you have two more opportunities to participate:
Tomorrow, March 7, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Social Hall, there will be another Sacred Conversation to which people from Old First, Tabernacle United (University City), Grace Christian Fellowship(Gray’s Ferry) and Pilgrim Community (Fishtown). This promises to be the most diverse of our gathering. It will also be different because the partners in the conversation will not all know each other as well.
This Sunday, March 8, after worship, (rescheduled after last week’s snow) Delilah will be facilitating a group right after worship. Bring something to nibble on as the conversation takes about 2 hours. We’ll offer coffee and tea and something to snack on as well.
Also, if you want to participate in our Lenten daily Bible study, let Michael know so he can add you to the distribution list: we’re delivering the Bible passages, some background and your reflection questions every morning in your inbox! (They are also posted on the church’s Facebook page.)
