Sunday School Lenten Pretzel Fundraising

Sunday School Lenten Pretzel Fundraising

Sunday School Lenten Project

Throughout Lent the Sunday School will raise funds for a non profit organization of their choosing. In previous years we raised money for the Heifer Project. The kids and youth enjoyed supporting Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. This Sunday students will choose a Non-Profit which we will share with the church on the first week of Lent during the Children and Youth service.

This year we will make and sell yummy pretzel candies every Sunday during Lent as our project Fundraiser. We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing this year’s Non-Profit with you on March 9th!

Why Pretzels?

The origins of the pretzel are known to be tied to early Christianity. Early Christians prayed by crossing their arms across the chest; so that their left hand touched the right shoulder and their right hand touched the left shoulder. It is believed that a monk used the simple bread dough eaten during lent and twisted it to mirror the prayer pose.

A pretzel to remind us of arms crossed in prayer, is a Lenten treat for us to share!

Parents, look out for a donation sign-up list. We appreciate your help!
