A Celebration of the Life of Peter Brigham, Sat., 07.16.16

The Memorial Service celebrating the life of Peter Brigham, a beloved saint of this church, will be held in the Sanctuary at Old First UCC, 151 North 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 (at the corner Race Street), on Saturday morning, July 16th at 11 am. A private committal service of his ashes will be held later at the family grave site in Maine.

There are three possibilities for parking near Old First for the service on 07.16:

1) We have two small parking lots, off 4th Street (the first two driveways to the left as you are going south, just below Race St.) at the church for people for whom walking is a challenge.

2) There is “relaxed street parking” on the both the east side of 4th Street (between Race and Arch Streets) and the south side of Race Street (between 4th and 3rd Streets). {Those are the “church sides” of both our cross streets.) You need to display our parking placard on your dashboard (and you won’t need to pay for the parking on Race St.).

3) You can also park in the lot at the Arch Street Meeting House (again, please place our parking placard on your dashboard). The entrance to the lot is off of 4th Street, about midblock between Arch and Market Streets, right across from the Wyndham Hotel. (Members of Old First: please use the third option if possible to leave the nearer parking spaces for guests.)

After the service celebrating Peter’s life, there will be a reception with the family from 1 until 4 pm at the Springfield Country Club, 400 West Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064. All are invited.

In lieu of flowers, the family is following Peter’s directions for memorial contributions. You may make a gift in his memory to one of the following suggestions or to a charity of your choice:

Old First Reformed United Church of Christ

Bethesda Project

Nathan Speare Burn Center, Crozer Chester Medical Center Upland

American Civil Liberties Union

Environmental Defense Fund

International Planned Parenthood Federation

Isleboro (ME) Islands Trust

Or a charity of your own choosing.

In whatever way feels most appropriate for you and for honoring Peter, may we give thanks to God for his life.
