The end of the church program year always gets sort of busy, even flustered. We’re trying to pace ourselves, but look at all the special gatherings coming up. Mark your calendars and join us as much as you can!
May 12:Mother’s Day. The kids will be leading worship, and we hope to have something special for the moms.
May 19: Pentecost. As has been our recent tradition, the church will be all gussied up for it’s birthday. Come and see how we decorate the Sanctuary this year. Also, we hope to have the first set of doves and a sign decrying the numbers of violent death in Philadelphia installed in the courtyard. And if so, we’ll ask a blessing over our artwork qua protest.
May 26: Worship that will include a remembrance of Memorial Day.
June 2: Choir and Music Sunday, when we will thank Julie, Tim and the Choir for the ministry of their music this past year and all the ways its added to our worship life.
June 9: Sunday School Sunday– when we celebrate the accomplishments and learning of our Sunday School Students and the ministry of their teachers this year. We will also welcome new members and celebrate communion (the new members will be our communion servers).
June 16: Father’s Day and our first 10 a.m. summer service.
June 23: 10 a.m. will be an alternative, “hands-on” worship service, perhaps outside or in the social hall. And at 3 p.m., we will gather in the Sanctuary for Michael’s installation as Old First’s 30th pastor. The Rev. Geoffrey Black, the UCC’s General Minister and President will be the preacher.
