As you all know, as Treasurer, I have often been accused of worrying too much about the Church’s finances. Those who spoke with me in the Fall of 2011, noted that, this time, I did not seem concerned. All of the indicators that the Administration SLG were reviewing pointed to a year where OFR would finish “in the black” (i.e. without a deficit).
And, friends, you did it! WE did it!!! Without any “See Us Through” or “Close the Gap” efforts, without a save-the-day Angel on 12/31, the Congregation of Old First Reformed UCC has finished its fiscal year without a deficit for the third year in a row!
“How?” you may ask. Well, the largest portion of income in our budget is the Member Giving portion (about 58% of the income). Friends, this portion of the budget, for 2011, was 98.9% of budgeted amount! Given these economic times, this is an amazing feat, for an amazing Church.
Thanks be to you, Church, and Thanks be to God!
