I could write this letter to anyone of the individuals in the community, but I firmly believe that my formation as a pastor is tied to Old First as church, as community and as an event in my life as much as to all the individuals who make these things happen.
For my Lenten practice, I ‘m writing letters to people and communities who have been water to my dust. I am expressing gratitude to those who have contributed to my formation, both shaping me and preparing me for future shaping.
From the moment I first wandered into Old First as a college student up through the on-going activity I see pouring out of your doors on my Facebook newsfeed, this church has continuously taught me what it means to be Christ’s body in the world. As I bury my head in books, try to explain process theology and write countless papers to get through Seminary, the activity going on at Old First keeps me grounded in reality and excited about my call.
