We are so grateful to everyone who came out to help with Thanksgiving at the church last week. Our Winter Shelter guests enjoyed the opportunity to relax inside during the day, and we enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by outside volunteer Brandon T Jones and his family. Additionally, volunteers showed up to help sort a lot of our clothing donations, so now the clothing closet looks a lot better! (You should check it out sometime)
A special thank you to Andrew Hartmann, Beth Walker, and Roxy Crusemire for stepping up to host our guests and help the cooks with the meal.
We have a chance to do this again later this month, for Christmas and New Year’s. We need Old First members to be a friendly presence for the Shelter residents during the day – relax, watch some football, and maybe enjoy a dinner prepared by our dinner teams. You can sign up for a two hour slot, enough time to take a break from your other obligations but still have a chance to celebrate the holiday. April Smith has volunteered to step up and cook the dinner on Christmas. If you are willing to hang out with our guests for a couple of hours on Christmas or New Year’s, you can sign up here.
