This Sunday in Adult Forum: You’ve Got Questions, We’ve Got Answers about…POWER
For our second session on Wellspring Ministries, join Adult Forum to learn more about POWER. POWER, a faith based community organizing group that consists of 40 congregations across the city, was founded in 2011 and has since focused on alleviating poverty through working towards living wage policies, education funding, and immigration reform.
But – what does that really mean? What makes community organizing different from advocacy and other forms of activism? What is POWER’s unique role in Philadelphia amongst the many other organizations calling for education reform and economic justice? What does it mean to be a part of POWER on an individual and church-wide level?
On Sunday, Old First POWER leaders will answer questions, share about current campaigns and opportunities to get involved. And don’t forget, there will be a training on phone-banking after church for folks who want to dive in!
