We’ve had a bit of shuffling in topics. We are going to consider this past summer’s event in Ferguson, MO. for the November Adult Forum.
For October, we’re going to look at Judaism, the faith tradition from which our own Christian faith originally sprang. And “the other religious community” that Christianity has co-habited with (often poorly) throughmost of its history in the West. If Jesus asks us to be good neighbors like the Samaritan in his parable, we probably need to build up our understanding and appreciation of Judaism. Considering that we share some of the same Scriptures (what we refer to in worship as the Hebrew Scriptures), many Christians don’t know much about the Jewish faith as a religion. Here’a a chance to learn some more…
Margaret R. has agreed to convene the conversation this Sunday, when she will gather people and then introduce a video summary of the first of the Abrahmic faiths in order to get the conversation going.
Also, we are looking for someone who would help us to organize Adult Forum. Yajeh N. as the Christian Director is thinking about Adult Forum, but truthfully, Sunday mornings with Sunday School for the children is too busy for her to offer much attention to the Adult Forum. So we are looking for someone who would work with Yajeh and Michael C. on planning the Forums, and could act as a convener on Sunday mornings. If you are interested, please let Yajeh or Michael C. know.
