ADVENT KICK-OFF: a full day of activities to get the season started, Saturday, Dec. 2, 1917
Advent is late this year! Huh?
Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, which means that Advent doesn’t start the weekend after Thanksgiving like usual. Instead, there’s an “extra Sunday” after Thanksgiving before we get to the first Sunday of Advent on December 3.
We will be busy at Old First the day before — getting ready to get ready for Christmas. Join us for the day, or for any part of it. Kick-off the Advent season with some help from church!  DECEMBER 2nd will be a FUN, SPIRITUAL , BUSY DAY at Old First!  DON’T’ MISS IT!

The Crèche is being built in the front parking lot (because the animals arrive on the 7th), and we need volunteers to assist Keith Haberern. No construction experience needed. Construction begins at 8:00 AM.  Let the church office know you want to help (so Keith can get in touch with you).

Old First Advent Day Retreat:  1:30-5:30 pm at the church.  We’re setting aside this day to spiritually prepare for the advent season. Wanda Craner, ordained UCC pastor, spiritual director and former PSEConf. staffer, will facilitate the retreat. It will end with a light soup dinner and communion (bring your favorite soup, bread or salad to share). For details and registration click here, or call the church office to reserve your spot for the retreat. (If people need childcare, please let Mimi C-J know.
The Greening of the Sanctuary with adults and children of all ages  listening & singing along to those  favorite Christmas carols while Greening the Sanctuary for the Christmas Holiday Season.  Traditionally, the Greening of the Sanctuary has been a time for the Sunday Schoolers to do some service for the church, as they put up our first holiday decorations. Join us in the Sanctuary at 6 pm.
