At Old First, most of us are already pretty casual in worship. It’s not unusual to see shorts and sandals in the summer. Or t-shirts any Sunday.
But Garden Work Days are excuses to actually show up in church looking a bit grungy. Michael, who usually has a tie on for worship has been known to wear blue jeans when there’s a garden work day right after worship…
And there will be one on Sunday, March 18, right after worship. The vegetable gardens are already mostly planted. So the major task will be working on the front courtyard. It was a long winter and a late spring. There’s some work to be done for this growing season.
Weather you are a seasoned gardener or a novice who’s going to need a lot of instructions, dress appropriately and stay after worship to get a big part of “the face of our church” looking good.
If you want to help out, look for Janice S. after worship.
P.S. A big public thank you to Andrew C. who has committed to cutting the grass for us all season– a big part of helping our church look cared for and welcoming. Thanks, Andrew!
