Two years ago when we undertook replacing the manniquins with the painted Creche figures, we didn’t create an image of Baby Jesus. How do we fail to think of him?
This year, Karen B. has completed the set for us, fashioning a baby Jesus for us to lay in the manger after the services on Christmas Eve.
Karen and Rich are living in Lewiston, Maine now, and at the Lutheran congregation where they worship, Trinity Church, a number of parishioners who knew what Karen was working on asked the pastor, Father Steve, to bless the image in worship. He obliged, and so it comes to us with blessings that congregation, where they laid hands on him while Father Steve said a blessing of peace for the world’s children, and particularly those in Philadelphia.
We will bless the image of baby Jesus Karen has so lovingly created for us in worship this Sunday, alongside the Children’s Christmas Pageant, that this art and all our ministry might always incarnate God’s love, show forth God’s glory and inspire people to live better lives.
