Here is some information you can send the friends you have invited to join us for worship on September 13, 2020 at 11:00am. You can also forward to your guests a copy of Saturday’s “Fear Not” as it usually contains the Order of Service for Sunday.
Here is one more request, if you know you have friends coming and you want us to look out for them, please send their names to firstname.lastname@example.org by Saturday. We hope to have Hospitality Team members engaged in greeting our friends and other visitors in the service and it always is more welcoming to know who to look for. See you in Church!
Cut and paste, edit if you’d like….just the basics:
What to expect at Zoom worship on Sunday:
You can join the Zoom service by going to the Old First website and clicking on the purple colored button at the bottom on the screen. The button has in it the meeting code: 984875 which will need to be entered in the meeting code box to join the meeting. If you are calling into the service by phone, you can dial telephone number: 646-876-9923 and then enter, when prompted:
Meeting ID: 457 116 3908
Our Zoom room is open at 10:30 and between 10:30 and 11:00 there is a time for people greeting each other and welcoming each other on Zoom.
When the bells of the church up the street chime at 11, Pastor Michael invites us to light our candles and gather (on mute) in worship as we listen together to the Prelude. An Order of Service is available, but you don’t need it to follow along.
The service is interactive at times and at other times we are all on mute (we have a team of co-hosts who can provide technical assistance during the service if you need it).
Members of the congregation participate in the service through leading our readings and songs, passing the peace and sharing prayers and providing sermon feedback. We are experimenting with ways of lifting up the prayers of the people, but bring your prayers and feel free to post them in the chat box or raise your hand when asked if you have a prayer to share.
After the service, there is a time for fellowship and we will be breaking out into some smaller zoom groups so you can greet others.
We do ask everyone to sign in through the chat feature of Zoom. For our guests, we hope that you will send us your contact information and at the service, there will be information on how to do that.
Our services are live. They are recorded but available for viewing only by members of the congregation through requested access. You are welcome to participate as you are able. God’s Love brings people from all walks of life to this place and we are hopeful that you will experience a sense of belonging among this community of faith, where no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome.
