Changes to the Constitution and By-laws Proposed for the Annual Meeting

Having lived together into the new Constitution and By-laws passed by the congregation in May 2009, we have recognized a need to tweak them here and there. Thus the Elders are proposing some amendments to be voted on at the upcoming Annual Meeting on January 29, 2012. None of the changes are radical. Rather they fine-tune our operations now that we have seen how the new structure operates. They will include:

~ changing the Christian Education leadership from a single Director to a Standing Leadership Group.

~ adding the position of Archivist as one of the Directors appointed by the Board of Elders.

~ lengthening the terms of the Directors that are appointed by the Board of Elders from the current one year to two years.

~ changing that the appointment of the Discernment Task Group occurs annually and that its members may serve without limitation on number of years served.

~ specifying that the Annual Meeting happens in January, as is our current commitment.

The exact wording changes proposed will be available with the other Action Items, this Sunday, January 15, 2012 at worship.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Donohue
