Vegetable Gardening at Old First!

Vegetable Gardening at Old First!

Deb Rudman and Jim Brossy are community gardeners who have been participating in the City Harvest Program for almost a decade. This PHS program provides the supplies toward support of neighbors in need of food security. Most recently, they farmed a big plot in Northern Liberties that they lost over the last year to four new townhomes. Saddened by their landlessness, Deb and Jim were excited to hear that we could use some help with our gardens this year.

A variety of organic crops are grown in raised beds for rotation through the seasons along the east side of the sanctuary building and behind the church.  The harvest that is grown at Old First will be offered to our guests who join us at the Saturday Morning Cupboard.

“It will be a joy to assist in bringing the garden back to life this year in collaboration with volunteers at the Old First Reformed Church,” said Deb.

If you are interested in volunteering, talk to Janice S. and she will connect you with Deb & Jim.
