This Sunday after worship the Worship SLG will host an open conversation circle on the topic of removing the back two rows of pews of the sanctuary. Depending on what they hear in that conversation, the Worship SLG may make a decision as early as the following Sunday at their meeting. That meeting will also be announced and open, giving people further opportunity to comment on this possible change.
The Worship SLG believes that this change will enhance and enrich our worship by allowing more movement in the sanctuary. We will be able to make a circle around the sanctuary for prayer, communion or singing a hymn. We will be able to take communion in our usual manner without snaking outside the sanctuary into the upper narthex. The ushers will be able to reach the sound system more easily and without asking people to move from their seats. The choir may even sing an introit or a benediction response from the back of the sanctuary.
These computer-generated photos show what the sanctuary would look like after this renovation. Please join us on the 4th if you would like to be part of the conversation.
