As part of the Capital Campaign, Old First Congregation members selected the updating of our elevator as among the first projects to be completed. Our current elevator hydraulic system is so old that parts are no longer available. If it were to break, it would have to be completely replaced and, as with any repair, it is always more convenient and cost effective to make repairs prior to an emergency.
The new system has been ordered and should be delivered soon. It takes 6 weeks to get all the parts and permits. They have tentatively set the start date for our renovation to be August 22.
With a start date of August 22, we will be without an elevator for 3 services, August 28, September 4 and 11.
For those three weeks, we will move our Sunday services to Social Hall, to make our service accessible for all our members. If that changes, you’ll hear about it at Worship and here on the website.
