Newer people in our community won’t know Emily. She was with us in 2009 and 10, right after she graduated from Bryn Mawr and while she was doing City Year. She spent that year practicing her faith with us at Old First, and during that time, confirmed her sense of call to ministry. She left us to attend Pacific Lutheran Seminary in Berkeley, CA. Finished with seminary now, she writes us this update:
Special thanks to all of you at Old First for being a church home for me and helping me better understand my own call to ministry from 2009-2010.
I have now been called as a pastor to a church in Gladwin, MI (a small town, under 3,000 people, in the center of the state).
My ordination is on June 20th at 11am at Church of the Savior in Paramus, NJ, which I attended while I was growing up. That may be a bit of a drive from Philadelphia, but know that you are all more than welcome to attend, should you find yourselves in the area. Though do try to give me a holler if you decide to show up so we can make sure there’s enough lunch for everyone. 🙂
