Mike W. and Michael C. where talking. Mike felt there were fewer gay folks at church lately. Michael laughed and said, “Our worship book says, ‘people in our churches are always coming and going.’ Some folks have moved on perhaps, but there are other new folks who may not have identified themselves as such…”
Which is all to say that we have not had a Gay Men’s Night Out for too long (maybe since before Stirling got really sick?). For our new folks, what is Gay Men’s Night Out?
It’s a loose fellowship group of gay men and others from church. But we always welcome friends of friends to join us.
It tends to be on a Friday night; we gather someplace, usually a bar, and once everyone is there, we move on to have dinner someplace. It’s an opportunity — in a setting beyond church — to spend time together and get to know one another better. And the group has certainly welcomed folks beyond those who identify themselves as “gay men.”
We will gather on Fri., Sept. 18 at 7:30 pm at Knock (at the corner of 12th / Locust). Once we are sure that all who are joining us have arrived, we will find a nearby restaurant for dinner. If you have any questions, please speak to Mike W. or Michael C.
