It’s this Saturday Night. All are welcome. Bring a friend. Get your own ticket on-line ($20. or, if you are signed up for Funsavers, only $10.).
Our tradition is to go out for a meal afterwards…
Gay Men of Old First and friends have been regularly gathering outside of church. There are usually friends along, often non-gay and non-male friends. It’s sort of a y’all come fellowship group…
Their next outing will be to see the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus Ensemble, “Brotherly Love,” in a concert entitled “Pearl Necklace” on Saturday, February 25, 2012, 9 p.m. at the Prince Music Theater (1412 Chestnut St. Philadelphia PA 19102)
This will be a production by the PGMC’s outstanding ensemble, ‘Brotherly Love,’ “a bright, bubbly, bawdy band of burly, barrel-chested, bearded balladeers and beautiful, baby-faced, bellowing bards” (???).
The PGMC’s invitation is to an “adult-themed cabaret event and let your hair down….or put your hair up….better to show off those pearls, girls!” (One of our members who sings with them admits some of this material makes him blush — this is probably a “leave the kids and the faint of heart at home” sort of concert.
The musical selection will include favorites from Monty Python as well as from the musical Avenue Q and some madrigals reworked to bring out their gay subtext. “This concert will be a sexy, salacious show of song, skin and slinky seduction you’re sure to savor.”
Tickets are $20 for all seats, with a $2.50 surcharge for buying them in advance, on-line. We’d like to see if we can get a block of seats together, so let the church office or the Pastor know you want to attend.
(The concert will be ASL interpreted for the hearing impaired. If anyone needs to be in that section, please speak with Michael.)
