We live in a world these days that palpably presents a lot of high risk threats. Terrorism that can show up around the block. Gun violence that is prevalent. The increasing dangerousness of the weather and the rising of the seas with the environmental crisis. The culture wars that leave people divided and targeted. Excessive force by the police. Polarized politics that scapegoat people. And paralyzed political processes that leave us all dangerously out on a limb and whole communities’ lacking what they need.
The threats are uncomfortably near. And the risks feel greater than usual. Our situation can feel apacolyptic.
Does our faith offer some way to face all of this? What are we as Christians to do?
