Advent 1
Jeremiah 33: 14 – 16
Luke 21:25-36
“Prophetic Promises for Here and Now”
These readings are evocative.
They might remind you of troubles our world is coping with today — columns of refugees and terrorism in cities not unlike our own.
Or they might take you to a time in the future when Jesus has come back, so we can hope all such troubles will be behind us.
But what if prophecy functions as well in another way — not asking us to understand bad times now or good times in the future, so much as giving us what we need to deal better with here and now?
