Isaiah 40:1-11
God’s People Are Comforted
Good news, church:
Comfort will come; and a punishing exile will come to an end.
Barriers to all good things will be torn down.
Even the barrier a fragile, flimsy faith can be will be swept away.
Our God is bringing good news for us and for all creation.
And the good news is: God is here. God is near.
Rejoice!

The Proclamation of John the Baptist
The good news of Jesus Christ has deep roots.
The work our God is doing in the world began long ago and continues to this very day.
As Isaiah said, “the word of our God will stand forever.”
Church, are you prepared to “lift up your voice with strength” and shout,
“Here is our God!”
The word of our God will stand forever.
Let it stand close by all of us right now.
