As you probably know, each year all members and friends of Old First are invite to attend the Annual Meeting, this year on Sunday, Jan. 29. We gather after worship for a pot luck luncheon, then hear from our leaders about the life and ministry of Old First. But more importantly, it’s also when we as a congregation make the important questions about the future ministry and fellowship of our church. Those who are members of the church will vote on new leaders, including a new Moderator, Treasurer, and Community Life SLG Leader. We will hear about the past year’s finances and approve a working budget for 2017.
There will be reports about the Capital Campaign – what your contributions have already accomplished and what still remains to be done. And there will be resolutions to discuss, including one by the Outreach SLG, to create a separate outreach 501(c)3, as described earlier this year by SLG leader Stephen Wilhite – Serving More, the Old First Foundation. The new Discernment Task Force will also be introducing their work and its importance to us both as a congregation and individually.
In next week’s E-pistle, our Moderator, Larry Waddell, will provide a more expansive description of what to expect. For now, mark your calendars for Sunday, Jan. 29.
