Reflections on the Jesus' Last Words

Reflections on the Jesus' Last Words

On Good Friday evening, it’s been our recent tradition to have our members reflect on the last words that Jesus spoke from the cross. It’s become a special service where people offer their faithful gifts in spoken word and music. This past Good Friday we heard thoughtful reflections from Alice, Katrina, Delilah, Margaret R., Beth W., Haeman and Carrie. We’re reproducing the ones that are available electronically here, to share with those of you who couldn’t be there that evening (and those of you, like me, who would enjoy revisiting them!).

“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) — Alice

“This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) — Katrina

“Woman, behold they son.” (John 19:26) — Delilah

“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me.” (Mark 15:34) — Margaret R.

“I thirst.” (John 19:28) — Beth W.

“It is finished.” (John 19:30) — Haeman (reflections are not available)

“Into thy hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.” (Luke 23:46) — Carrie

Many thanks to each of these Old Firsters for sharing their faith and wisdom with our congregation.
