Happy Holidays Old First and Friends of Old First!
Whether you’ll be celebrating with friends and family, travelling far or staying close to home — this is truly a festive time of year!
Continuing in the tradition of the season, I’m thinking about doing something new for the shelter guys… but I’ll need your help.
I’d like to decorate the Social Hall (their home from November – April) for the holidays!
After speaking to the guys last week, they were excited about the possibility of decorating their space – making it feel homey and festive.
If you’ve been hit with the holiday bug and would like to donate wreaths, bows, lights or anything that conveys, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” you can drop these items off in the church office.
There’s a box in the office labeled “Holiday Decorations for the Shelter”.
If you’d like to join us, we will be decorating the Social Hall Wednesday December 13, 2017 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
I’m hoping that by us all working together we’ll gain a better understanding of homelessness while strengthening our relationship with the shelter guys. And perhaps more importantly– create an environment that the guys can truly call home and take pride in.
Look forward to seeing you this coming Wednesday!
