The Christmas hymn “In the Bleak Midwinter” offers these hints for the gifts we might offer Jesus:
“What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart”.
It’s the church’s 285th Birthday! That’s a lot of year’s since those first German immigrants got off a boat and chose to found a Reformed Church in Philadelphia. What gift does one get for a 285th birthday? What does one get a church for it’s birthday?
Wouldn’t it be a wonderful present — presence! — if everyone came to church this one week? Brought and offered our best. Opened ourselves to share with one another and with God. Gathered to realize the power of our church today. To rededicate ourselves to the life-changing ministries for which God is waiting on us…
See you ALL in church
(and think if there’s someone you might call and invite personally… or offer to pick up and bring),
P.S. Also bring something to contribute to the Potluck after worship! These meals are tables of plenty because everyone has something to share!
