Last week Republican leaders in Harrisburg announced that they would put the Governor’s budget to a vote this Wednesday. This is coming after the Senate and House passed an $11B stop-gap budget which the Governor immediately vetoed.
We have learned many lessons about our statewide power and influence over the last year of the Full, Fair Funding campaign. While we may not yet have the power to directly agitate leadership in the House and Senate, we can create the necessary tension to agitate their faith.
This Sunday, October 11th, we will be gathering outside of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 1723 Race, for a prayer vigil at 1:30 PM. We will gather in prayer to call our leaders in Harrisburg into the economy and culture of solidarity that Pope Francis has challenged us all to create.
The 22nd Annual Children’s Sabbath program will follow the vigil at 2:30 PM inside of the Basilica. Several POWER clergy and laypersons will be reading scripture during the service.
If you are able to come please RSVP by emailing info@powerphiladelphia.org. If you are unable to join, please share with others.
