JVMT Update on Old First House Construction

JVMT Update on Old First House Construction

The JVMT is extremely thankful for those who helped with the clearing out of the Fox Building and the Christian Education building in preparation for the demolition/construction that was scheduled to start this September.  Thanks to this help, we met our goal of emptying these buildings by July 31, 2022.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the work will not begin in September as planned, but will be delayed for about 6 months.

Like most real estate projects recently, the project has experienced significant cost increases and delays due to the COVID pandemic, construction cost increases, and labor shortages. As a result, we made some changes to the building design to save costs, but the building is still very similar to the plans presented to the congregation in April.  The newly passed state budget includes $150 million to help LIHTC* projects like ours fill current gaps due to construction cost increases. Due to these additional costs and delays, the start of construction is now projected to be as late as April 2023.

If you want to know more about the design changes or want to hear more detail about what will be happening between now and the start of construction, please feel free to reach out to a member of the Joint Venture Mission Team or let Devan know you have questions and Devan will let us know.

Thank you again for your help in the clean out and your continued support of this exciting plan.
