What do three sponges, a face mask, a book, a felted mouse, a candle and a thoughtful statement all have in common? These were gifts that represented six people’s Lenten journey and in turn were shared by new and old friends, at the first Lenten Supper hosted by Beth Walker and Mike Wass. A warm meal was enjoyed, as the wind blew outside and an incredible view of the city lights added to great stories and devotions shared by Beth, Dorothy, Emily, Mindy, Mike and Susan. Lent is a journey shared by friends (old & new) and this evening was filled with memories for all those who were guests at the table.
Here are comments from those who attended:
Thank you all for a lovely evening – even what transpired on “Downton Abbey” tonight can’t spoil the fun I had at our dinner.
….great sharing a meal with you all and getting to know each of you better. I was very moved by Mike’s book going to Emily who has a beagle-loving, Charlie Brown-collecting Moma and nieces and nephews with whom to share it. Thank you for coming over in the COLD!
I also had a wonderful time getting to know everyone last night! After our dinner, I was thinking of a devotional book my mom wrote for my hometown church’s Lent studies last year called “Walking With My God and My Dog”.. half to offer as some food for the soul and half because I believe everyone should see Mr. Sam Elliott (her beagle on the cover) in his precious action. (if you are interested in a copy let Mindy in the office know and she will forward you a copy)
Thanks again for a lovely evening all!
