Our Midday Meetings will get back together starting Wednesday, Oct. 12. There are a late lunchtime gathering for ANYONE free during the day who wishes to join us, for fellowship and conversatiobn about a wide-ranging list of topics. We gather at 1 pm, bringing our brown-bag lunches. We visit over our meal, and then get started with our program about 1:30 pm.
For October, Delilah M. will lead an introductory session on Re-Evaluation Counseling (RC). After she got back from her RC conference last spring, Mark S. asked her is she would tell us as a group more about it.
RC is an international organization. The theory assumes that everyone is born with tremendous intellectual potential, naturally happy and pleased with themselves and others, but these qualities have become blocked in adults as a result of accumulated hurtful experiences, as young people, such as fear, pain, anger, embarrassment, etc. Because of those hurtful experiences in their youth, people sometimes respond in a rigid and unhelpful way.
When given adequate time to talk about these hurtful experiences, with an attentive listener, the person is freed from rigid/unhelpful behavior, and will be able to re-evaluate the situation as “then,”
not “now.” Recognizing the difference in their time and situation, people will tend to act with love, kindness and consideration of others.
The goal of RC is to always live in present time. To create a fresh new response for each new situation. Most people either focus on the past (“what I did well or did not do well”) or the future (constantly planning for what I will do).
Delilah will give us a taste of how RC can help! Please join us…
