Looking for “Artifacts” of Cultures from Around the World

Looking for “Artifacts” of Cultures from Around the World

World Communion Sunday will be on October 6 this year. The Worship Standing Leadership Group (SLG), thinking about the special services (Anniversary Sunday, World Communion and Reformation Sunday) in early fall, has some ideas for each occasion.

For World Communion Sunday, the Worship SLG thought it might be nice to “dress” the Sanctuary to remind us that the church is a worldwide fellowship.

The Worship SLG asks that you bring to church any cloth, fabric, blankets, rugs, textiles, clothes, or other cultural artifacts from various cultures — in the tradition of your own family or some place you visited or just like! We can’t promise how the Sanctuary will be “decorated” until we see what we have to work with, but this is just part of our plans to make that a special Sunday.

If you have something to share, we ask that you pin /attach a small piece of paper with your name to the item and bring it into church. We need everything by Sunday, September 29, so we can see what we have and decide how to display it all. You can bring it to Michael or Tony or the office, and they will store it away safely until it is needed. Everything will be returned at the end of the service on October 6 or the following Sunday.
