Stirling really didn’t want any kind of funeral. But everyone impressed on him, “our” need to say good-bye and thank you. Since he did realize deeply at the end of his life, that he was important to many, that his life, his way of being had made an impression, blessed, many, he acceded to their being a memorial service.
We will give thanks for and celebrate Stirling’s life on Saturday morning, May 17, at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Memories will be shared, and a sermon will be preached. Holly Phares and her Healing Presence Singers will join with our choir to provide the ministry of music. Communion will be served.
After the service, there will be a luncheon: Asian food… Stirling’s favorite.
Flowers have already been taken care of. If people wish to make memorial gifts, they may be made to Old First for the support of our Men’s Shelter (Stirling was particularly concerned with the men in our shelter and the struggles they faced).
