We did it!
Old First exceeded its personal goal of 1500 hours of Earth Care. Our final tally was just over 2000 hours of Earth Care. These hours were calculated by members of the church through such activities as: yard work/gardening, turning lights off, washing clothes in cold water, using public transportation and reading news online instead of in print.
We did not meet our goals for letter writing or trees, but we did make a significant effort to accomplish these things. Our goal was 300 letters of environmental advocacy and we topped in at 215. Our tree-planting goal was 25 and we reached 15 trees planted. Not a bad start for a congregation that includes many people who do not have land to plant trees on. Oh, city living!
The United Church of Christ totals: 429,200 hours of Earth Care. The goal was 1,000,000 hours. 82,640 trees planted of a 100,000 goal 29, 724 Advocacy letters written of a 100,000 goal
