Old First’s New Year’s Eve Service will occur on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. It offers a time for reflection– thanksgiving for the year past and hopes for the year coming. Primarily a service of prayer and singing, lasting about an hour, it can be your communal marking of the New Year or your prelude to further celebrations. This informal service will be followed immediately by a Sparkling Cider toast in the upper narthex. West Indian custom teaches that how you ring in the New Year determines how you will spend the rest of the year. Ok, it’s a superstition, but join us– just in case– to set your year towards blessing. All, especially visitors, welcome.
