Sing to the Lord, Old First!

It’s almost September, which means that the choir season is right around the corner. No matter who you are, no matter what your musical training is (or is not), you are welcome to sing with us!

This fall, there are two new initiatives that we hope will encourage more of you to join us:

First, the choir will not sing every single Sunday, but will have the second Sunday of the month (as well as the preceding Thursday) off in order to more regularly hear from our instrumentalists and smaller vocal ensembles.

Second, the choir’s Sunday rehearsal will move to 10-10:30, with “Julie-dispensation” for church school teacher/singers, as well as adult forum attendees/singers. What I do hope is that some of you who thought, “Whoo! Singing in the choir makes for a really long Sunday,” might reconsider and give it a whirl.

There are also more musical opportunities beyond choir built into the schedule this year, and if you have an idea for an ensemble, let me know! I invite all instrumentalists to play with the occasional band, and if I don’t already know about your particular talent, now’s the time to tell me!

Tim and I also encourage anyone who might want to play an occasional prelude, offertory, or postlude—all of your musical talents are welcome here.

Attached, you will find the choir schedule. Please see me on Sundays (I am back beginning this Sunday, Sept. 2), email me at julie.k.steiner@gmail.com, or call me at 215.490.8790 if you have any questions or need more information.
