As the pandemic continues and we create new ways to serve the community, we would like to have your participation and input.
We are opening the Saturday Cupboard (July 11th) for take-away breakfast and to distribute t-shirts and socks. I am hoping that a few of you would be willing to spread the word at your offices, employers, neighborhood association, etc. to collect items that are most needed for the Cupboard. At this time, we do not need any clothing other than men’s boxers in all sizes. We are in dire need of travel size toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, razors, and deodorant. For our to-go breakfast, we have been blessed with many donations of snack bars. We are most in need of fresh fruit or fruit cups, beverages (juice box, water bottle, gatorade) and oatmeal cups that you can add water to and enjoy. We also need gallon size ziploc bags to put the items in. If you are willing to start a collection, please let me know and I will pick items up from your home, office, or designated location at your convenience.
Can you fill one of our Amazon wishes?
I am going to host a brainstorming session to get ideas about what everyone would enjoy in a free virtual service experience. I am inviting anyone who is an Old First member, has participated as a Service Camp leader, Dinner leader, or Cupboard leader to attend and share their ideas, reflections, and memories of volunteering with us. Please respond to me with your interest and I will send out a Doodle poll to gauge the best time for an online gathering.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and help with re-imagining the Outreach ministries.
