Our POWER Local Organizing Committee to Meet in Ocean City, Oct. 12-13

Old First’s Local Organizing Committee is responsible for our church’s on-going involvement in POWER. As with all things “church,” it’s an ever-changing group, of about 12-15 long-term members and newer folks. Mike W. and Stirling S. are its informal leaders/organizers.

The group meets more or less monthly to keep the Old First community informed and participating in POWER‘s struggle for more jobs for Philadelphians and better schools for our children.

Its next meeting will be an “over-night.” One of the leaders has a vacation scheduled in Ocean City the weekend of Oct. 12. With a little bit of vision and excitement, and the offer of someone’s weekend house there, the whole crew has decided to make an overnight of it.

Participants are invited to arrive in Ocean City on Friday evening, Oct. 12 as their schedules allow for a relaxed evening of fellowship. Then we’ll stay at two homes in Ocean City over night. On Saturday morning, we will get up, make breakfast together and have our local organizing committee meeting before dispersing about lunchtime.

The POWER L.O.C. is not just a new Old First travel club. It’s a working group. If you want to get involved, and work to make the most of POWER‘s possibilities for the ministry of Old First and change in this city, please speak to Mike W. or Stirling S. Everyone is invited!
