Religious Beliefs and Behavior Study Here, 4.17

A group of students from the University of Pennsylvania will be visiting Old First on Sunday the 17th.  They are conducting a research project involving religious beliefs and behavior. The survey will be conducted before Adult Forum and before Worship and will take about 4-5 minutes for each participant to complete. The survey is done one to one.  There will be questions like: What percentage of the time do you adhere to your religious guidelines; To what extent do you believe that God protects and provides for those who believe; and Do you believe God can create miracles?

Participants will receive a bookmark and a chance to win money as compensation for their participation and a measure of economic risk-taking. The study is funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and the John Templeton Foundation. Five churches in the Philly area have already participated, and a lot of people like the survey, saying that it makes them reflect more deeply about their relationship with God. People can also skip any questions that they feel uncomfortable answering.

Please arrive by 9:25 and gather in the Social Hall if you’d like to take the survey early or 10:40 and gather in the Sanctuary if you’d like to take it before Worship.
