Reminder: Bring Your Casserole Pan Back, Full of Something Yummy!

Reminder: Bring Your Casserole Pan Back, Full of Something Yummy!

Our homeless shelter’s cupboard is bare, so we’re asking the congregation to pitch in to fill it up.

With the cold snap, the shelter is running low on food for the freezer, which we use on nights when groups are not scheduled to come in to prepare a fresh meal. We’ve had a series of groups cancel as the weather prevented them from getting to us.

As part of the worship on February 9, we handed out lots of empty casserole pans and freezer bags. We hope you took one home and will prepare a casserole or dessert for Old First’s shelter. Each pan included a recipe suggestion, but feel free to be creative! The only restriction you have is no pork products. The guests at the shelter would really enjoy a variety of dishes.

Please freeze the food and label it with the name of the dish, the date it was made and your name. Bring bring it back to church on Sun., Feb 16 or Sun., Feb 23 and put it directly in the freezer in the kitchen. We will bless the food we receive as part of our worship on the next two Sundays, February 16 and 23.

If you missed the chance to take a pan last Sunday, there will be more available this coming Sunday.
