Revitalization–What have we learned? What should we do next?

Revitalization–What have we learned? What should we do next?

Old First is now half-way through our three-year covenant with Rev. Michael Caine to revitalize our congregation by intentionally seeking out new ways to serve more people.

To date, we’ve spent time studying ourselves and the neighborhoods we live in. We’ve collectively agreed to reach into specific targeted population groups that we feel God has given us particular gifts for ministry–families with young children, young professionals, the lesbian/gay/bisexual/

transgender community and those who have been turned off by church (either by experience or perception). We’ve intentionally set in place initiatives to appeal to those populations. We’ve delighted as the number of visitors has grown, especially among the young adult group.

So now it’s time to step back for a moment and study where we are. What’s worked? What hasn’t? What have we learned? What do we want to do more of? What should we courageously let go of?

The Revitalization Task Force will meet on Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm in the Fox Building (there’s no choir scheduled that evening!). Would you consider joining us as we evaluate our efforts at the half-way point and look toward the next 18 months?

If you’re interested in joining the Task Force, please speak to Michael.
