Each Saturday morning, 52 weeks a year, we serve a hot breakfast and provide clothing and toiletries to 60 people (mostly men) who are experiencing homelessness or hardship. Our volunteers include members of Old First, community members, groups from other congregations, students and community service groups, and anyone who wants to help!
Come and join us! Volunteers are needed to prepare and cook breakfast, set up, assist guests and clean up. You can sign up for the following volunteer roles below.

Saturday Morning Volunteer Roles and Sign-up
Saturday Leader: The Saturday Leader is a role reserved for trained volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Saturday Leader, please contact outreach@oldfirstucc.org
Breakfast Team: This is an opportunity to sponsor and cook a “To Go” breakfast for 60 guests. The Breakfast Team provides all the food, prepares the breakfast either using the church kitchen or elsewhere so it is ready for delivery as a “To Go” package by 8:45 a.m. The Breakfast Team may choose to leave or stay and distribute the “To Go” breakfast to our guests. We recommend a minimum of 3 or 4 people in a breakfast team. See our Breakfast Team Guide for more details.
Volunteers: Volunteers help set up, sort clothing, greet guests, help guests choose clothing from the clothing cupboard, hand out to-go breakfasts and hot coffee, and help breakdown and clean up afterwards. See our Saturday Volunteer Guide for more details.
Sponsorship: Do you want to help but can’t come on a Saturday? Consider sponsoring a meal with us!
Groups and Team Building: Are you interested in volunteering as a group for a team building exercise? We’d love to have you! Contact outreach@oldfirstucc.org for more information.
