Old First is committed to working toward reducing the injustices in our society that separate us from God and one another. Our social justice initiatives are constantly evolving based on current events and the passions of our members.

Sacred Conversation on Race

Old First’s Sacred Conversation on Race (SCoR) provides opportunities to increase understanding of racism and white privilege. The SCoR Ministry Team leads study, reflection, and discussion to develop our ability to talk openly and honestly about race, to practice being in dialogue rather than debate about issues of race and racism. What does it mean to resist racism? How is this work part of our spiritual development? How can we build authentic relationships across racial

differences? Our Sacred Conversation is a journey, exploring what our congregation and community might look like if we operated as a truly anti-racist, inclusive institution.
