Did you hear me in the welcome on Easter? Yes, Easter is a special day. But at church, every Sunday is a little Easter. And around Old First, there is always something wonderful happening. I tried to convince people that there is good reason to come back even when there are no poinsettias or lilies.
Here’s a taste of some of what is going on in the next six weeks:
04.23: Instead of a sermon, the congregation will be invited to “Stump the Pastor,” asking me any question that I will try and answer on the spot.
04.30: Welcoming Blanca Pacheco from the New Sanctuary Movement, who will be speaking in worship as well as afterwards too about how congregations can be better neighbors to immigrants, particularly the undocumented.
05.07: We will be Hosting the New Amsterdam Boys and Girls Choir who will perform the special worship music during service.
05.14: Mother’s Day is always a big day in church.
05:21: The day we welcome 8 confirmands into full adult membership at church.
05.28: The day we celebrate our Sunday School and our graduates (and send me off on sabbatical)…
We need to squeeze a new members’ reception in there. And I believe that the Elders have a recommendation for which they will be calling a congregational meeting…
See if you can be here each Sunday and you won’t miss a thing!
