Special Collection for John’s Peace Corp Work

One of Old First’s members, John Owens, has recently been accepted into the Peace Corp! Next February, he’ll travel to Eswatini to do HIV prevention work in the communities there. John is raising money for supplies he needs to take with him.

Old First will be taking up a special offering for John and the upcoming work he will start next year. If you would like to donate toward this special offering, please send a check to Old First (or in the offering plate on Sunday) with “special offering John O” in the memo line. Or call Devan at church for more details,  215-922-4566

Some additional details that John shared about his upcoming Peace Corp work:

“In the Spring of 2022, I was offered an opportunity to serve our country through an agency established by John F. Kennedy, known as the Peace Corps. I will leave America in mid-February and journey to Eswatini, Africa, with other invitees. I will be working as a Health Mitigation Officer, where I will be addressing Prevention methods for HIV/AIDS and other sexual health needs to youth, community members, and other various populations.

Before starting in Eswatini, I must gather supplies and emergency funds for my trip, such as individually wrapped candies, extra hand sanitizer, novelty band-aids for those “ouchies,” and emergency travel expenses.
Your donations are greatly appreciated.”
