As summer approaches, the choir prepares to end its worship leadership season and take a well-deserved recess.
In their absence, Old First invites musicians–individuals or small ensembles–to provide music for our weekly services.
In addition to providing the service music during this time, this alternative affords us an opportunity to explore and extend our musical canon.
We would love to have new vocal or instrumental musicians share their gifts and introduce us to other styles and sounds. Of course, we are also looking forward to welcoming back those who have provided beautiful music in the past.
Usually, a soloist or ensemble shares music in place of the choral anthem. If you have a second selection you would like to share during the Offertory, our organist Tim will give you that spot as well.
Tim and Michael are also open to other suggestions or ideas you might have about music you want to share or how we could organize music differently during our summer worship.
If you are interested in participating musically in our summer worship, please contact the church office. Right now the schedule is completely open– every Sunday from June 26 until September 4. But it fills up quickly.
If you have any questions about music for summer Sundays, you may also speak with our acting Director of Music, Tim Kuntz.
Old First’s worship is enriched greatly by the musical gifts of the people of this community. Please feel free to share your gifts with us that together in worship we might praise and adore our God.
